The deadline to submit individual paper, panel, and special session proposals for the 2018 biennial conference is fast approaching. In less than 10 days, all proposals must be submitted to: https://ww3.aievolution.com/rsa1801/
If you participated in the Rhetoric Society of America conference in the past, we encourage you to submit again. If you have never submitted to our conference, please do so this year. If a colleague or friend has never been to our conference, then the 50th Anniversary Conference is the one to attend—invite them to join you on a panel!
The 18th biennial conference will be held in Minneapolis, MN, an exciting city with great food, diverse neighborhoods, and lots of entertainment opportunity. Visit the Walker Art Museum (https://walkerart.org) or Como Park Zoo and Conservatory in St. Paul (http://www.comozooconservatory.org). Attend an event at the Guthrie Theater (https://www.guthrietheater.org) or simply shop downtown or at the Mall of America (http://www.mallofamerica.com). Minneapolis is a fantastic destination for individuals and families, alike.
Of course, we are hoping that you’ll spend most of your time at the conference. We have an exciting lineup of sessions planned. You may want to attend one of the pre-conference career workshops, which will include seminars in leadership, moving from associate to full professor, and advancing the careers of fixed-term faculty. You can take advantage of the research network to receive feedback on current projects from experts in your area of study. You can attend one of the Super Sessions:
* A history of RSA, our first 50 years.
* RSA’s publication past and future
* Theories of invention and re-invention in the rhetorical tradition
* Being a public intellectual in the current political and social climate
* The challenges to activism and dissent from the academy
* RSA’s pedagogical traditions
In addition to a unique theme, each of the 2018 Super Sessions will reflect on the past 50 years of rhetorical scholarship to explore how the past can inform our future.
In addition to the many sessions that will feature the great work of rhetoric scholars, you can look forward to the keynote address by Andrea A. Lunsford, a “Presidents’ Address” that will feature not just one but several RSA presidents, and a large reception to celebrate the organization’s anniversary.
The 2018 Conference of the Rhetoric Society of America will be a grand event, especially if your scholarship appears there. Please complete your submission by July 15, 2017. A copy of the general conference call is available at: https://files.aievolution.com/rsa1801/docs/Call_for_Papers.pdf A copy of the special 50th anniversary call is available at https://files.aievolution.com/rsa1801/docs/2018_Anniversary_Call.pdf All inquiries can be sent to rsasubmissions@rhetoricsociety.org
