Promoting Civic Engagement in the Classsroom

Public Speaking, the Constitution and Controversy is a public speaking course designed
encourage civic engagement, political awareness, and the protection of constitutional rights.

This course challenges students to develop rhetorical skills with a specific focus on controversies in American society that challenge Constitutional principles.

Students will:

• Gain a basic understanding of the Constitution
• Apply speaking skills to constitutional controversies
• Gain first-hand experience in how politics impact everyone
