Please Support the Janice Lauer Endowment Fund for Graduate Students

Rhetorical scholars everywhere are still mourning Janice Lauer Rice, who passed away in early April.

Those who knew Janice personally have fond memories:

Dr. Janice Lauer Rice"I will always be grateful to Janice for four years of the most inspiring, stimulating, and rigorous learning experience of my life.” —Mike Carter

"Thank you, Janice, for teaching me about mentoring and support for graduate students. You are an inspiring role model for Purdue Rhet/Com alumni like me. You will be dearly missed.” —Huiling Ding

For those of you who didn’t know Janice, the RSA Bulletin announcing her passing summarizes her importance to our field. You probably do know someone who studied with her at Purdue, participated in her summer Rhetoric Seminar, published in the Parlor Press Lauer Series in Rhetoric and Composition, or was inspired by her books and essays.

RSA will honor Janice at the 2022 RSA conference in Baltimore with a panel in honor of her contributions to our field.

RSA also honors her with its Janice Lauer Endowment Fund, which provides funds to support graduate student participation and achievement within RSA. If you are thinking about a way to remember Janice and to celebrate all she has done for RSA and for our field, we encourage you to make a contribution to this fund.

To do so, login to your account at the RSA website or go directly to the RSA Donation form. You may make your payment by credit card online or by mailing a check to:

All contributions, no matter how small or how large, will help build the Lauer Fund over time and enable RSA to support more graduate students—the future of our field.
