ACLS E-book collection available to RSA members

Membership in RSA enables members to acquire access to a growing collection of e-books that will encompass essential texts in the Humanities. This collection is being developed and maintained by the American Council of Learned Societies.

Below is a description of the project from ACLS:

ACLS Humanities E-Book (HEB) is an online collection of over 3,300 books of high quality in the humanities, accessible through institutional and individual subscription. These titles are offered by the ACLS in collaboration with twenty-three learned societies, over 100 contributing publishers, and librarians at the University of Michigan’s Scholarly Publishing Office. The result is an online, fully searchable collection of high-quality books in the Humanities, recommended and reviewed by scholars. These are works of major importance that remain vital to both scholars and advanced students, and are frequently cited in the literature. (See title list.).

HEB is now pleased to make individual subscriptions available through standing membership in any of the 71 ACLS constituent societies.

The subscription offers unlimited access to over 3,300 cross-searchable, full-text titles across the humanities and related social sciences. Titles have been selected and peer reviewed by ACLS constituent learned societies for their continued value in teaching and researching, and approximately 500 are being added each year. The collection includes both in- and out-of-print titles ranging from the 1880s through the present. Titles link to publishers’ websites and to online reviews in JSTOR, Project MUSE, and other sites. Individual subscriptions are USD $35.00 for a twelve-month subscription.

Individual subscriptions are ideal for those whose school might not yet have an institutional subscription to HEB or for individual members of a learned society who might not be affiliated with a subscribing institution.
