ISHR Holiday Message and Reminder

Dear ISHR-members,

After our inspiring and successful conference in New Orleans preparations for the next conference (Nijmegen, July 27-31, 2021) have begun. The theme of the conference will be Topics and Commonplaces in Antiquity and Beyond. The official call for papers will be published shortly on the website, and you will of course receive an email alert.

We are pleased to announce the purchase of new software from Results at Hand, LCC, to improve the process of the evaluation of abstracts and the arrangement of the programme. An important feature of the software will be the conference app that will provide every participant with all relevant information and updates to the programme during the conference.

The conference will take place on the campus of Radboud University, which is conventiently located not far from the city centre and easily accessible by public transport and by bicycle. We will provide information about hotel accomodation in Nijmegen in the course of 2020. In the meantime we are delighted to announce that the conference dinner will be held in one of the oldest buildings in the city, a twelfth-century multi-purpose monastery which, after briefly accommodating a university in the seventeenth century, finally came to house our city’s most famous craft brewery – De Hemel (“heaven”).

As a more mundane matter, however, I would like to remind you of the call for renewal of your membership, issued last month by the General Secretary. Please CLICK HERE to complete your renewal.

On behalf of the ISHR Council and Directors I wish you all Happy Holidays and a healthy and prosperous New Year.

Marc van der Poel
President ISHR
