REMINDER ... Call for Candidates for Three Members of the Research Grants Committee and the Prize Committee

1. Call for candidates for three positions on the Research Grants Committee

The Society invites members of the Society to apply for three positions on the Research Grants Committee. The Research Grants Committee reviews applications for the six research fellowships which the Society grants every year. In this committee, which consists of six members, the five languages of the Society are represented in such a way that for each language at least one member has demonstrable fluency at a native or near-native level, ideally through publications in that language. The Society seeks to appoint three new members of the committee. Two members should be demonstrably fluent at a native or near-native level in English or German respectively. The term of office is four years, with the possibility for a second, consecutive term.

Society members who are interested in serving on this committee are invited to apply by sending an email, with a brief CV, to the chair of the Nominating Committee, Prof. Malcolm Richardson  (enmric@lsu.edu). The deadline for application is July 8, 2022.

2. Call for candidates for three positions on the Prize Committee

The Society invites members of the Society to apply for three positions on the Prize Committee. The Society awards a biennial prize for the best article published in Rhetorica in the previous two years.  In 2024, the prize will be awarded for the best article published in volumes 39, 3-4- 41. The task of the members of the Prize Committee is to evaluate and rank the articles published in the relevant years using a fixed set of criteria. In this committee, which consists of six members, the five languages of the Society are represented in such a way that for each language at least one member has demonstrable fluency at a native or near-native level, ideally through publications in that language. The Society seeks to appoint three new members of the Committee. Two members should be demonstrably fluent at a native or near-native level in Spanish or Italian respectively. The term of office is four years, with the possibility for a second, consecutive term.
