The International Society for the History of Rhetoric promotes the study of both the theory and practice of rhetoric in all periods and languages and the relationship of rhetoric to poetics, literary theory and criticism, philosophy, politics, religion, law and other aspects of the cultural context.

Weapons of Mass Seduction: Rhetoric and Political Discourse in The United States
One year after the 2012 US presidential elections an international conference will be held in the neighbouring towns of Middelburg (the Netherlands) and Ghent (Belgium). This four-day event (November 6-9, 2013) will be hosted jointly by the Roosevelt Study Center (Middelburg) and Ghent University.
